A Bit of a Bummer
We found out today that our house signing has been postponed until sometime next week. This is due to some delays in the processing of our fideicomiso - a bank trust that allows foreigners to purchase land within 50km of the Mexican coastline. Although not surprising (these processes tend to take longer than expected), it’s still a major bummer. We were hoping to get in to our house today...

That's a Wrap
We have been enjoying a week of Carnaval celebrations in the city.  Since last Wednesday, there have been parades, dancing, fire works, and ceremonies that span the entire historic center. After spending several nights cheering on the many fantastic and colorful parade participants and eating way too many fried goodies (think deep-fried hot dogs over french fries), we are ready for a day of rest...

Ventilation = Comfort
In Mérida, a well-ventilated house is key. Bringing a steady flow of fresh air helps flush the humidity, keeps people cool(er) and is the best cooling strategy for the climate. Upon revisiting our design today, we realize our plan is not very ventilation friendly. Where's Mérida
Mérida (map) is in Mexico and is the capital city of the state of Yucatán. The food is spicy (apparently the habanero chili originated here) and the weather is hot. This is where our blog calls home.
